Description

Contactor for motor switching

This contactor switches motor loads in machine panels, automation lines and starter assemblies. The coil controls the power contacts, allowing the motor line to be opened and closed from an auxiliary command circuit.

Coil, poles and AC-3 rating

poles 3; Ie AC-3 38 A; coil voltage 240 VAC 50/60 Hz. The AC-3 value identifies the motor switching duty and is the main reference when selecting the device for a starter. Pole count defines the power circuit layout, while the coil voltage must match the available control supply in the panel.

Starter integration

In the starter assembly, the contactor works with the protection device and any signalling accessories. During testing, check start and stop sequence, coil response, terminal tightening and correspondence between wiring diagram and conductor marking.

For replacement, compare coil voltage, AC-3 current, pole count and auxiliary contact layout before removing the installed unit. This keeps the starter logic unchanged and prevents confusing a power contactor with an auxiliary relay or signalling component. In service, the contactor should be checked together with the upstream protection device and the downstream motor line. The inspection should include contact response, coil energization, conductor marking, auxiliary feedback and the mechanical condition of the terminals. These checks help maintain a clear relationship between the command circuit and the power circuit. Terminal numbering and auxiliary feedback should also be compared with the electrical diagram before the panel is returned to service.

This approach is useful in maintenance because it links the visible wiring, the command function and the motor switching duty in a single check. It also supports clear identification in panels where several contactors have similar appearance but different coils, auxiliary contacts or AC-3 ratings.

Contactor for motor switching

This contactor switches motor loads in machine panels, automation lines and starter assemblies.
